July 24th, 2017

Well, you guys' trip looked fun, I bet it was nice to relax, and it looked like Ellie went swimming.  I can't wait to do that again.  It is cool dad is fixing stuff in the house, I've fixed stuff on my mission, like a sink, a toilet, stuff like that, but all my Latino comps think I'm weird.  Here, if something breaks you call someone to fix it, but I just have too much fun fixing things.

But yeah, time is just flying by, I can't believe mom is going back to work.  The summer break here started this week, and school starts back in like 3 weeks, it is weird, I would hate to go to school here.

But life is going good here, I'm happier. One of our investigators is doing good, he has a fecha (baptismal date) for the 5th of August, so hopefully it will work out.  We recently found a family, and they are good.  They said that they just want to find peace in their lives.  They say that their lives are really hard right now, but nothing the gospel can't fix.  One lesson with them we were in a rush, so we gave them the Book of Mormon and then left without talking about, so the next day him and his family thought it was the bible, so they were so lost when seeing the names Nephi and Alma.  They thought we changed the bible, but they were glad to here it is not the bible.

I also made cupcakes with a member, next week will be a cake.  Next Monday we are going to do a little BBQ, well, not a real one, just an "Ecuadorian" one, but it should be fun.

I will work on stuffing the grasshopper tonight, if my companion doesn't freak out.  He was grossed out when I put it into a bottle, I don't why.  I just think it is so cool.  Now I need to get a giant cockroach that lives in the first floor of the apartment building we live in. :)

I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Live long and prosper

A weird thing, sorry the picture is bad.

Contacting deeper into the jungle.  Apparently there are anacondas, the members told us to watch out, but we didn't go too far.

Some chicken pot-pie a member made, I had asked her to.  It was good.

Well I have a giant grasshopper to take home, it is dead.  It was on our balcony.

July 17th, 2017

Well, it is funny a truck hit the Toyota, was dad backing up?  No, just kidding.  But you guys got dinner, so that's good.

Life is fine here, it has been cooler the last few days, which has been nice.  But today we went to Santo Domingo to play some fútbol, I hate fútbol.

Nothing much happened this week, just a lot of walking and stuff.  Our investigators are slowly progressing.  Me and Elder Anchundia just got a little sick this week too, I'm alright now, but he is still a little sick I think.

Sorry I don't have anything to talk about, my life is a little boring right now, but it should get better in time.

But I love you all and hope you have a great week.

July 10th, 2017

Well, it is good you guys had a good fourth of July.

Yeah life here is good, the conference with president Barlow was good, he is a very rich man, but he is here with two of his kids, and his wife and kids don't speak Spanish, but his other kids have families of there own, so they are in Utah.

But he is cool, he loves the same things I do, skiing, hiking, etc.....it is cool.

Yeah, not a lot has happened, this week just flew by.  But there is one thing, there is a family here, but whenever I seem to be in the house someone gets hurt, because of me.  Like tripping over my feet, and stuff, it is kind of funny, but sad too.  Also, one day this family was eating a cat for dinner, they didn't offer any to us, thankfully.

I don't know if this is real, but apparently La Concordia is on the equator and so I live in the northern hemisphere and then in the morning we go and run in the southern hemisphere. We only run two and a half miles, and then some days we work out at a member's house, he has some stuff to work out with.

But life is good, and I love you all and hope you have a great week.

July 3rd, 2017

Well, I'm happy to here life is going good in Utah, but I do have some dad news.  I didn't feel the earthquake, I don't know how.  Me and my companion were contacting a family and our phone started going off and we kept canceling it, until after the contacts.  We found out it was the zone leaders, and they wanted to ask us if we were alright.  We said yeah, why, and they said that there was an earthquake.  Yeah we didn't feel it, but all the members here have been talking about it.  I'm mad I didn't feel it but maybe if I'm lucky there will be another one.

Today was fun, we hiked just a little in the jungle and went to the river.  We did some fishing.  It was in a little pond with a million fish.  So you put your line in and you get a fish and then eat it after.  It was fine, but the fish were cool.  We did this with a family, the Sanches, and they are cool, they are members.

The work here is alright, the members are nice.  The problems are marriage and attending church.

I love you all and hope you have a great week, and I will see you guys in 11 months, no, just kidding I'm not thinking about that.

June 26th, 2017

Well, it is good that Ellie got that drain thing out of her, but yeah it stinks she can't go to girls camp, but I have a feeling she will be happy she didn't go.  Also, the scriptures mom talked about in D&C 121, I love those, when Joseph is in Liberty jail, and I share this story with members all the time.

Life is good here, we spent the whole day moving stuff to our new house and we still don't have everything moved.  So I don't know when we will move all of it.  Not a lot happened this week, just some nice rain storms, that are huge.  It feels, and looks, like you are standing under a water fall, and it is so loud because everyone here has metal roofs.  So when we are in a lesson I can't even hear my companion speaking.  I just see his mouth moving.  We went to Quito this week, which was nice to get away from the heat.  We went for my visa, and every thing went well.  The night before, I had a dream where they wouldn't renew my visa so I had to go to Idaho to complete my mission, but luckily that didn't happen.

My companion is Elder Anchundia and he is from Guayaquil, which is like 2 or 3 hours from here.

I will send pictures next week, I don't have my camera right now.  It is cool because some members here are going to go to Utah, I don't know when, but they are doing all their stuff for visas and stuff like that.  So I might ask them if they can take some stuff to you guys, but we will see.

I hope you guys have a nice week, and i love you all.  Next week I will have pictures, and more time to write, but yeah - adiós -

June 19th, 2017

Well, life is good here, other than the heat.  I think I'm getting used to being always wet, and smelly.  We have a few investigators, but I have not visited them all yet.  There is a great family here, they are members, but they are so nice and fun.  He has his own company for cooking oil and he has a huge plot of land, so we are going to go hiking, and fishing with them next Monday, so that should be fun.

It is cool because the house I am living in has had missionaries in it since 2001, but we are getting a new house.  The new one is huge, I have no idea why we are moving in to it.  I feel like it is for a family of five or something, but we will move into it next week.

When it comes to animals and insects as of right now I have only seen grasshoppers, frogs, and lizards (that live in our house).  I will take pictures soon, but next week I will send you guys pictures of the city that I took this week.

I hope everything goes good with Ellie's surgery, and with life.

I'm about 5 hours from Quito and 1 hour from Santo Domingo, which is where we go every Thursday for our zone and district meetings.  We use buses for that trip.  In the city we take these small car things that are cool, I need to take a picture.

I love you all and hope you all have a great week.

June 12th, 2017

Well, I'm now in La Concordia.  It is hot and very humid, feels like I just got done swimming and can't dry off.  Our house has 3 fans, two for the beds and one for our studying area, I'm very grateful.  Our house is on the main street.  The city is the farthest west in our mission, and the whole city is one sector, so every Thursday we have to take an hour bus to Santo Domingo.  It is really cool here, I feel like I'm in a jungle well, that's because I am.  I found a huge grasshopper, it was dead, but it was like the size of my hand, I got a picture.  It is weird, I can't see any mountains, it is just flat, but cool.  I feel like I'm in a different world; no mountains, weird car-bike things, the women are American hungry (I need to watch out), and the people are just nicer.

It is just hard to think here, I have not had to deal with heat like this for like my whole life and there is barely any wind, but I'm grateful for the fan in this room.  It's just [too bad] it only hits me about every three seconds.  I just looked at google, and it said it is only 81 degrees right now!  I don't believe it, I cant believe it, it feels like 400.

But life is good, we get our new president this week.  My companion is a Latino from Ecuador, I don't have his name yet.  I hope the work here will be good, everyone says it is great, but we will see.  It looks like it might rain, I'm hoping it will.  Everyone says it rains hot water.  I want to feel for myself.  The pictures are all of Quito, with elder Zavala, except for the grasshopper.

I love you all and hope you have a great week, and until next week, if I don't die (of the heat).

June 5th, 2017

It is good Ellie's thing went well.  I go home June 5th, so I only have a year left, weird.  But life is good, this week not much happen just that next Monday I will have a new mission president, and probably change sectors.  I have no idea about president's homecoming.

I'm so sorry this is short my computer keeps turning on and off, and I'm out of time, but I love you all.

Have a great week.
